AKHNOOR, Dec 10: MLA, Akhnoor, Mohan Lal Bhagat chaired a comprehensive public darbar in Akhnoor, addressing pressing issues and assuring the public of swift and transparent resolutions. The event saw active participation from senior officials, including SDM Khour and I/C SDM Akhnoor Satish Sharma, DDCs Sharda Bhau and Bhushan Bral, tehsildar Akhnoor, Naresh Kumar, BDO Akhnoor, Sushil Singh, I/C EO Akhnoor, Tahir Hafiz, BMO Akhnoor, Dr. Mohammad Salim, and officers from various departments, alongside former sarpanches, panches, and councillors.
The public raised several critical concerns, such as the pending compensation for lands acquired under defense projects since 2018, the need to revamp the constituency’s lift irrigation system, and protection works along the Chenab river in Garkhal, Maira, and Siteriala villages. complaints were voiced regarding the absence and malpractices of revenue officials, especially Patwaris, along with the urgent need for drinking water facilities in Government schools. Other issues included illegal mining in Panjgrain and nearby areas, growing drug abuse, and bovine smuggling in the region.
MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat assured the public of immediate action and issued directives to the concerned departments for time-bound resolutions. He instructed the Executive Engineer, Irrigation to prepare a comprehensive plan for adequate water supply across the constituency and called for an urgent meeting with relevant departments to resolve traffic management issues in the town. Emphasizing accountability, he directed revenue officials to ensure the presence of Patwaris in Patwarkhanas and mandated public awareness campaigns regarding their locations. Additionally, he urged the PHE Department to expedite ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) projects and expressed serious concern over the drug menace and bovine smuggling, pledging strict actions against violators.
During the Darbar, MLA Bhagat personally resolved numerous individual grievances, including issues related to pensions, land demarcations, and utility connections.
