RAMBAN, Dec 12: Police here today under the overall supervision of SSP Ramban, Kulbir Singh arrested two persons with Cannabis (Charas) and poppy straw in two different cases.
Cops from Police Station Batote during a routine checking on Batote-Doda road intercepted a person moving in suspicious circumstances.
On questioning, he disclosed his identity as Bablu Kumar, son of Rakhi Ram, resident of Bagger, Tehsil Assar and during his checking cops recovered Cannabis (Charas) like substance weighing approximately 60 gm.
A case in FIR No. 149/2024 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote in this regard and investigation started.
In another incident cops from Police Station Batote while performing vehicle checking duty at Nashri Naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number MH15EG-9789.
Driver of the vehicle disclosed his name as Balwinder Masih, son of Roop Lal Masih, resident of Tehra Kalan Ajnala, Amritsar and during checking of the vehicle cops recovered poppy straw like substance weighing approximately 20 kg.
In this regard, a case in FIR number 150/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
Both the accused have been taken into custody and the contraband along with vehicles was seized.
