JAMMU, Dec 12: The Forest Department and Jammu and Kashmir Police have foiled a Khair wood smuggling attempt in Gharota area.
A police official said that late night on December 11, Forest sleuths received information about some people felling Khair wood in Mathwar Block of Nagrota Assembly constituency.
On this, he said the Forest officials along with a team of Police Station Gharota reached at the spot and seized some Khair wood logs and two camels from the spot.
The smugglers, according to him, managed to escape from the spot.
The seized Khair wood logs have been handed over to the Forest Department, added the police official.
