MENDHAR, Dec 14: Residents of Kalaban village in Ward No. 2, located in the remote Mendhar Sub Division of Poonch district, staged a protest on Saturday against the Jal Shakti Department over an ongoing water crisis.
The villagers reported that the area has been without water supply for the past six months, causing immense hardships for the residents. Israr Hussain Shah, one of the protestors, stated that the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme in the area has been non-functional for a long time, further worsening the situation.
The residents have appealed to the District Development Commissioner and Jal Shakti Minister Javed Ahmed Rana to restore the water supply at the earliest.
