JAMMU, Dec 15: A meeting of the Jammu Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) was held at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu to highlight the pressing issue of the delayed release of 3 percent Dearness Allowance (DA), due from July 2024.
Held under the presidium of Ganesh Khajuria, chief patron of JKTF, S Surat Singh Toofani, Darshan Sharma, Gopal Singh, Kuldeep Singh Bandral and Raj Singh, the meeting highlighted the Government’s alleged apathetic attitude towards the needs of employees and pensioners, especially in light of the increasing prices of essential commodities that have placed an unbearable financial burden on the common man.
Mr Khajuria pointed out that while the Central Government had already released the DA for its employees, the UT Government’s delay in doing so is exacerbating the financial strain on pensioners and their families. He warned the Government that if the DA was not released soon, the employees would be forced to adopt an agitational path. He also urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Kumar Sinha to intervene and address the issue promptly.
