EU to sanction 16 Russians, Georgians, Moldovans for hybrid activity: Reports

WARSAW, Dec 16: The European Union has prepared sanctions for alleged “hybrid activity” against 16 citizens of Russia, Georgia and Moldova, Polish Radio reported, citing a list accessed by the broadcaster’s correspondent in Brussels.
There are first entries in the EU sanctions list for Russia’s hybrid actions, the blacklist is still classified, it noted.
According to the radio, the first group to be sanctioned consists of 16 people, most of whom are Russians, as well as representatives of Moldova and Georgia. They are said to include intelligence officers, military personnel, entrepreneurs, experts and journalists.
According to Polish Radio, the individuals sanctioned will be banned from entering the EU and their assets in Europe will be frozen. They will also not be able to receive EU funding.
It also claimed that several organizations are on the sanctions list.
On December 2, the Russian Embassy in Germany expressed concern about the anti-Russian hysteria being artificially whipped up in the country as early elections to the Bundestag approach.
The Russian Embassy in Norway, for its part, said that accusations against Moscow of waging a hybrid war were absurd, and that the West was trying to justify its unfriendly actions against Russia under the pretext of fighting the “Russian threat.” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously stated that Russia never interfered in the internal affairs of other countries and did not tolerate other states doing so.
