RAMBAN, Dec 16: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Kulbir Singh arrested two persons with poppy straw like contraband.
Cops from Police Station Batote, while on vehicle checking duty at Nashri Naka on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, intercepted a vehicle of Canter make bearing registration number PB13Z-8565.
Driver of the vehicle was identified as Pamma Singh, son of Amrik Singh, resident of Bhindi Saidan, Amritsar.
During checking of the vehicle cops found poppy straw like substance weighing approximately 12 kg loaded in it.
In this regard a case in FIR number 151/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
In another incident cops from Police Station Batote while on vehicle checking duty at Nashri Naka intercepted a Truck bearing registration number PB22G 9207.
Driver of the truck was identified as Kashmir Singh, son of Bachan Singh, resident of Tera Rajputan, Amritsar.
During checking of the truck poppy straw like substance weighing approximately 8.5 kg was recovered. In this regard a case in FIR number 152/2024 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
Both the accused have been arrested and the contraband along with the vehicle seized.
