CS for involvement of PRIs in implementation of CSS

PATNITOP, July 7: Terming Panchayats a vital link between people and the Government, Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal today stressed for complete involvement of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in implementation of Centrally sponsored schemes to yield added results.
Chairing a meeting of senior officers of Udhampur, Ramban and Doda districts at Patnitop, the Chief Secretary reviewed centrally sponsored schemes viz NRHM, SSA, RMSA, Mid day Meal, ICDS, NRDWP, MGNREGA and devolution of functions/ resources to Panchayati Raj Institutions being implemented in these districts.
He said that Panchayati Raj Institutions have a larger role to play in implementation of welfare schemes and other policies to the actual beneficiaries and directed the officers to ensure active involvement of members of PRIs as this would have a percolation effect of various schemes especially designed to raise the socio- economic status of the common masses at the grassroots level.
Maintaining that close coordination between officers and the members of PRIs is imperative for better results, the Chief Secretary directed the officers to ensure that benefits of various schemes could reach to the targeted sections of the society. He urged for activation of ASHA workers as they could contribute immensely in imparting timely health advice to the expecting mothers and their by promoting institutional deliveries.
Mr Madhav Lal directed Deputy Commissioners for early settlement of pending claims of land compensation under various development projects. He asked the DCs to personally monitor the land acquisition compensation cases for cent percent clearance in a time bound manner.
Stressing need for educating general masses about the contents of NRHM, the Chief Secretary instructed the officers to hold awareness sessions at Panchayat levels so that people could be benefited at ground level. He asked the concerned agency for completion of ongoing construction works of different PHCs and CHCs in a specified time frame.
The District Development Commissioners, Udhampur, Ramban and Doda presented scheme wise physical and financial progress report regarding centrally sponsored schemes being implemented in their respective districts.

Diwadi, Special Secretary to Chief Secretary, District Development Commissioners of Udhampur, Ramban & Doda, Project Director SSA, J&K, Director Rural Development Jammu, Director School Education, Jammu, Director Health Services, Jammu, State project Director RMSA, J&K, Director Social Welfare Jammu, Mission Director NRHM, Superintendent Engineers of PWD & Hydraulic and other district and sectoral officers.
