BJP Likely To Send Notices To MPs Absent During Introduction Of Simultaneous Elections

NEW DELHI, Dec 17: The BJP on Tuesday indicated that it will be asking several of its MPs in the Lok Sabha on why they were absent from the House when voting for the introduction of the crucial “One Nation One Election” Bill was underway.
Sources in the BJP confirmed however that a few Union Ministers and some MPs who were not present in the House on Tuesday, had pre-decided official engagements and had informed the party floor managers as a three lined whip had been issued by the party ahead of the introduction of the Bill. While the introduction of the Bill itself does not take more than a simple majority, when the Bill is retabled after a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) goes into details of it, it will require two thirds majority of members to ensure passage.
