MUMBAI, Dec 19: Extending losers for the fourth consecutive session on Thursday, the BSE Sensex tanked 964.15 pts to close at 79,218.05 on weak global cues amid selling was seen across the board.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 247.15 pts at 23,951.70.
Even, US stock was also dipped as Federal Reserve gave a signal of fewer interest rate cuts in 2025.
The equity market remained negative the whole session, as the Sensex crashed 1153 pts to open at 79,029.03. During the day,nit was tumbled down 1162 pts at 79,020.08, days low, before closing at 79,218.05, sliding 964.15 pts from its previous close.
The Nifty registered days high and low at 24,004.90 pts and by 23,870.30
pts respectively.
The stocks that dipped were Bankex by 1.16 pc, Consumer Durable by 1.15 pc, and Financial services by 1.05 pc.
The Mid cap eased 0.30 pc and Small cap by 0.28 pc.
In 30 scrips, 3 advanced while 27 declined.
The losers were Bajaj Finserv by 2.50 pc to Rs 1590, JSW Steel by 2.33 pc to Rs 925, Bajaj Finance by 2.25 pc to Rs 6914 and Asian Paints by 2.12 pc to Rs 2296.
The gainers were Sun Pharma by 1.32 pc to Rs 1824, Powergrid by 0.37 pc to Rs 322.75 and Hind Unilever by 0.11 pc to Rs 2360.
