DFCO officials caution against illegal drug trade

JAMMU, Dec 19: Senior officials of the J&K Drug & Food Control Organisation (DFCO) has cautioned the people dealing in the Pharmaceuticals trade and youth against the illegal drug trade and aware society of the harmful impact of banned drugs.
Under the campaign of the Department, an awareness programme was organized by the Drug and Food Control Organization at Akhnoor today. Assistant Drug Controller, Jammu Arvind Sharma, Assistant Drug Controller Sanjeev Gupta and Drug Inspectors Amit Bali and Amit Mahajan were present during the interactive session.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Jammu Arvind Sharma informed that the Government has initiated proactive measures to see the society free of substance abuse. The Department under the overall supervision of State Drug Controller, Lotika Khajuria has initiated special drive to ensure that the Pharmacies dispense medicines in the best interest of public and the patient care .
He impressed upon the Chemist fraternity to install CCTVs and computerized billing system as per the directives of the Government. He further emphasized that complete sale records have to be maintained for schedule H1 medicines and in particular the formulations prone to cause addiction and warned the trade fraternity to desist from any unethical trade practices.
Assistant Drug Controller Sanjeev Gupta directed the Pharma traders to conduct sale of such Medicinal preparations in the quantity prescribed only against the prescription of doctor and to keep a record of complete information of consumers.
The Pharma traders present on the occasion took a pledge that they will ensure to work in the best interest of patient care and will not be a part of any kind of unethical practice.
