Hundreds pay obeisance to Swami Mirzakak on his 184th Nirwan Diwas

JAMMU, May 16: Hundreds of devotees drawn from different parts of Jammu thronged Swami Mirzakak Ashram Nagrota from early in the morning today to participate in the celebration of 184th Nirwan Diwas (annual Jag) of Swami Ji -a mystic saint of medieval Kashmir.
On the occasion a Maha Yagya was solemnized in the Ashram and the function was organized by Swami Mirzakak Trust Hangalgund.
The Maha Yagya started yesterday evening and culminated with Puran ahuti this afternoon. It was followed by serving of prashad to devotees.
A Bhajan Kirtan was also held in the Ashram for entire day by Santosh Shah Nadan a Bhakti poetess.
On the occasion religious discourses were given by Swami Kumar Ji Maharaj. The devotees paid obeisance to Swami Ji and offered flowers, milk at the Asthapan which is the replica of Swami Ji’s original Samadi situated at village Hangalgund and constructed here after the mass migration of Kashmiri Pandits from Valley.
Swami Kumar Ji, while highlighting the contribution of Swami Mirzakak said he was a great spiritual authority who spelt a doom for tyrant Afghan rulers with his spiritual power by making a prophecy that the Sikhs will rule the Kashmir henceforth and within days Maharaja Ranjit Singh invaded Kashmiri and defeated Afghanis to rid the people from their atrocities and misrule.
He recalled the pre migration period of Kashmiri Pandits when thousands of devotees used to attend the annual Jag of Swami Ji at Hangalgund on this day and pay their obeisance to this spiritual saint of Kashmir and seek his blessings.
On the occasion a membership drive was launched in the Ashram by Swami Mirzakak Trust led by BL Hangloo its president and A K Raina,  general secretary.
