JAMMU, Dec 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) have seized five modified Royal Enfield bikes in Domana area.
The action against the two-wheelers fitted with modified silencers was taken after Police Station Domana received numerous complaints from the public about the nuisance these bikes were creating in the area, a police official said.
According to him, authorities have further decided to extend the enforcement efforts to other areas of Rural Zone of Jammu to target individuals and businesses involved in selling and installing the unauthorized silencers in accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act.
“Unauthorized modification to the vehicle silencers is illegal under the Motor Vehicles Act,” said the police official, adding, “Such alterations not only contribute to noise pollution but can also reduce the efficiency of the bike and pose safety risks.”
Meanwhile, he urged the vehicle owners to refrain from making such modifications and warned of strict penalties for those who continue to violate the regulations.
