KATHUA, Dec 21: Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua on Friday arrested one bootlegger and recovered huge cache (58 bottles of JK Excise Desi Whisky) from his possession in the jurisdictional area of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur.
Police said it was reliably learnt that one person is doing the trade of illicit liquor and enrouted towards Lakhanpur area and had kept the whole consignment of illicit liquor in his motorcycle bearing Registration Number JK08J-0357. Acting on the same information police team led by Inspector Tribhawan Khajuria SHO Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR Kathua, Subash Chander during special checking at Lakhanpur area, apprehended the bootlegger namely Jog Raj, son of Mukhtiyar Singh of Mehtabpur district Kathua.
During checking 58 Bottles of JK Excise Desi Whisky (350 ml each) were recovered from his illegal possession.
In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 141/2023 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act stands registered at PS Lakhanpur and investigation has been initiated.
