HYDERABAD, Dec 22: Devotees thronged the Sri Muthyalamma Talli temple in Kummariguda, Secunderabad on Sunday, to offer bonam as part of traditional celebrations.
Union Minister Kishan Reddy participated in the event, performing special pujas and offering prayers to the goddess.
Speaking to the media after the puja, Kishan Reddy addressed the recent vandalism of the temple, describing it as an insult to Hindu society, religion, and deities.
“We witnessed how a fanatic desecrated the Muthyalamma temple, which is a direct affront to the Hindu community. After its restoration, I had the privilege of having darshan of the goddess today,” he said.
The minister praised the local community for their devotion, highlighting their collective efforts in bringing bonams from every household to honour the goddess. He called for strict action against those responsible for destroying Hindu temples, urging the state government to ensure such incidents do not recur.
Kishan Reddy criticised the Telangana police for allegedly targeting activists from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), RSS, and other Hindu organizations who have been advocating for justice.
“Despite multiple attacks on temples in the state, the police seem to be working under the influence of the Majlis Party, rather than acting independently,” he claimed.
The Union Minister demanded that the state government take decisive action against fanatical mobs involved in temple vandalism and provide the police with the autonomy needed to uphold law and order. He urged for the protection of religious sentiments and the safeguarding of temples across Telangana.
