Police uses water cannons against workers

RAIPUR, Dec 23: Indian Youth Congress National president, Uday Bhanu Chib led the massive protest by the Chhattisgarh Youth Congress today against the Chief Minister and ‘gheraoed’ his residence in the capital city, Raipur.
Led by son of the soil, Uday Chib, thousands of Youth Congress workers surrounded the Chief Minister’s residence in the presence of Raipur Youth Congress president Akash Sharma. During this gherao program, thousands of Youth Congress workers marched from Gandhi Maidan towards the Chief Minister’s residence. They were carrying banners and placards with slogans in their hands
The Youth Congress workers were stopped midway by the police by putting up a barrier. During this, a scuffle was witnessed between the workers and the police contingent. When the police failed to stop the workers, the administration used water cannons to stop their movement ahead. The workers had broke the first barricade and had reached the second barricade at that time. The police left with the option to use water cannon against them. They were chased by the cops. During this, many Congress workers got injured and hundreds of them were arrested.
State PCC president Deepak Baij, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Mayor Ejaz Deber, Chairman Pramod Dubey, MLA Baleshwar Sahu, Youth Congress In-charge Shesh Narayan Ojha, general secretary Purnchandra Padhi and others were present during the protest dharna outside Chief Minister’s residence.
Youth Congress National president Uday Bhanu Chib said that today on the completion of one year of BJP government, thousands of Youth Congress workers conducted Gherao of Chief Minister’s residence against the increasing crime, unemployment and law and order which has become weak in this state. “Today when I came to this place, I saw that the administration has cordoned off and blocked many places to stop Youth Congress workers. This proves that this Government is scared of the workers of Youth Congress. Today, we also demand that Home Minister should apologise and resign over the derogatory statement that he has given against Dr B R Ambedkar. We are also protesting against the increasing drugs problem in our country, the BJP Government has failed to provide jobs to our youngsters but they are not able to stop drugs coming to India. Our youth is getting addicted to drugs but the BJP Government is not able to stop flow of drugs into the country.
State Congress Committee chief Deepak Baij and former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also spoke on the occasion.
