Overloading in SRTC buses goes unchecked

KISHTWAR, Dec 23: The issue of unchecked overloading in SRTC buses plying on various routes here particularly on Kishtwar-Paddar route, has triggered resentment among the local residents.
Locals claimed that these buses carry passengers beyond their allowed capacity and even fill the driver’s cabin thereby violating the norms.
Locals pointed out that while private vehicles are fined in routine for similar violations, none dare to touch the SRTC buses.
They demanded that all the traffic violators, whether they are government employees or private personnel, should be treated equally under the law.
The local residents were worried about the risks to passenger safety, as overloaded buses pose a significant threat to the lives of passengers onboard.
They have also expressed disappointment over the silence of traffic cops and Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) regarding these violations.
The public has urged higher authorities to address the issue promptly to ensure the safety of passengers and uphold the rule of law.
