JAMMU, Dec 24: Government has sanctioned the formation of District-Level Committees to verify beneficiaries enrolled in the Public Distribution System (PDS) database.
These committees will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner as the Chairperson, with the Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Social Welfare Officer, and Assistant Director of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) serving as members. The Assistant Director, FCS&CA, will act as the member secretary. The chairperson may include additional members if necessary.
The committees are tasked with verifying the eligibility of all registered beneficiaries, removing ineligible individuals, including left-out eligible beneficiaries, and completing the e-KYC process for pending eligible beneficiaries under the PDS.
A comprehensive report on these activities must be submitted to the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs within one month.
