17 bovines rescued, smuggler arrested

UDHAMPUR, Dec 24: Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling in Rehambal area and rescued 17 bovines besides arresting the smuggler.
These bovines were being smuggled in a vehicle bearing registration number JK02CJ-7679, which was intercepted by a Police team of Police Station Rehambal, led by SHO Nishat Sumbria.
These bovines were found tied in a very cruel manner and were being transported illegally without any valid permission. Police rescued the animals and arrested driver of the vehicle, identified as Amar Dep, son of Sanjib Dep of Lamding, District Hajai, Assam.
In this regards, a case FIR number 259/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
