Srinagar, May 18:  Scores of youth today protested against the ‘new job policy’ of the Government and demanded that the policy should be revoked as early as possible to save the future of thousands of youth in the State.
Shouting anti-Government slogans, the protesters said that Government should revoke the newly created employment policy, as it is directly affecting the career of education youth of State.
They said that it was the violation of labour laws and exploitation of human resources carried out in a planned manner by the State Government. “Isn’t it violation of labour laws and exploitation of human resources that a well educated is being paid some Rs 130- 150 a day, while an unskilled labourers earns more than double this amount,” said Javaid Shafi, who has recently completed Master’s in Computer Sciences.
Carrying placards, banners and posters, the youth assembled in Partap Park, held a peaceful protest march in the main market followed by a protest at Press Enclave.
Raising their fingers at the double standards adopted by Government to deal with gazetted and non-gazetted employees of the State, the youth said that the irony is that even pension was not applicable under this policy but at the same time this policy is not applicable for gazette employees. “This is totally injustice with the youth of state,” they shouted.
They said that on one hand State Legislators both MLAs and MLCs have been drawing huge monthly salaries, but on the other hand an M Phil or PhD degree holder are paid mere Rs 3000 to 4000 per month. “How can the legislators justify their demand and neglect ours,” they asked.
