SAMBA, Dec 26: In line with the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” (Drug-Free India Campaign), the Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) Jammu today held an impactful drug awareness event at Main Chowk, Samba.
The event, part of the Civic Action Programme-2024, featured a Nukkad Natak (street play) performed by the Nav Durga Kala Manch, led by Shazi Khan.
The program aimed to educate the public about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage a drug-free community.
The campaign was inaugurated by Chief Guest Varinder Singh Manhas, SSP Samba, and Guest of Honour Rajinder Singh Katoch, SSP, SO to DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, along with Garu Ram Bardwaj, Additional SP Samba, and Bhism Dubey, DySP Headquarters Samba.
Addressing the media, Varinder Singh Manhas emphasized the importance of students and youth participating in sports and cultural activities to stay away from drugs and negative influences.
He also warned drug traffickers of strict action under the law. Rajinder Singh Katoch highlighted the need to sensitize the youth on the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on society.
The Nukkad Natak team was awarded a cash prize by Range Police Headquarters Jammu for their exceptional performance in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drugs.
The event was well-received by the general public, civil society members, and students, who appreciated the initiative.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including SHO Samba Sandeep Charak, Naib Tehsildar Samba Snok Chand, PSI Dr Deepika Jalotra, and other prominent citizens.
Officers from Range Police Headquarters Jammu, including SI Suresh Kumar, ASI Jasbir Singh, and Selection grade Constable Ishant Sharma, ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
