JAMMU, May 21: In first case of its kind, police today sealed and attached the house of Shahida Praveen at Roop Nagar after the District Magistrate declared it as a brothel under Section 18 of Immoral Trafficking Act.
SSP Jammu Atul Goel had taken up the case of attachment of the house as a Government property with District Magistrate Ajit Sahu, who formally issued an order to this effect after which police sealed the H No. 405 at Sector No. 2 at Roop Nagar from where Shahida Praveen, a Computer Assistant in Forest Department, was running the brothel.
Police said Shahida Praveen, who was in the jail, owned the house.
After getting the order of the District Magistrate, police parties headed by SHO Janipura Hillal Azhar sealed the house under the supervision of SP City (North) Yougal Manhas and SDPO Sri Ram Ambarkar in the presence of Magistrate Kamal Preet and respectable citizens.
Local people have appreciated the police and civil administration’s decision to attach the brothel.
