JAMMU, Jan 8: BJP spokesperson and ex MLC, Girdhari Lal Raina questioned rationale behind Omar Abdullah’s frequent rushing to Delhi instead of focussing on improvements they promised in governance in Jammu & Kashmir.
Talking to reporters along with another spokesperson of the party Gaurav Gupta, and Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, BJP media secretary, Raina said that the Chief Minister is seeking “liberal funding” for J&K on one side and condemning tourists visiting UT as a cultural invasion. “How do you justify your demand for enhancing financial support to the UT for minimizing liabilities while at the same time creating new liabilities by spending unproductive and unnecessary expenditures like the purchase of vehicles for Ministers” he asked.
NC and successive Governments in Jammu Kashmir for decades have pushed the State to complete dependence on Central funding instead of creating its own resources and expanding revenue collection.

BJP Government has ensured long term financial reforms in J&K to consolidate financial management, create new resources and plug leakages. Budget size expanded from around Rs 38068 crore in 2013-14 to over Rs 1,18000 crore in 2023-24, he added. Capital expenditure was enhanced to around Rs 36904 crore from mere 9074 crore in 2013-14.
Raina pointed out the double standards of NC Government which uses ornamental jargon like “collaborative efforts with the Central Government” to enhance financial stability and promote sustainable development in Jammu and Kashmir. And in the same breath use divisive language against the Parliament terming its sovereign right to legislate as “betrayal of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”.
Raina asked people to remain cautious and seek accountability from the Government.
Gaurav Gupta said the historic launch of the BharatPol Portal is a transformative initiative marking a significant leap forward in India’s fight against transnational crimes, including cybercrimes, online radicalization, drug trafficking, and human trafficking by Modi Government.
Previously, whenever a fugitive committed a crime and escaped, police had to report the matter to the CBI, which then worked with Interpol. This process could delay swift action.
With the launch of Bharat Pol, local police can directly upload crime and fugitive-related information onto the BharatPol Portal, which is connected to Interpol ensuring that law enforcement agencies can act swiftly and efficiently.
This initiative is not just about technological advancement; it is a reflection of the progressive vision of PM Modi and HM Shah, added Gaurav Gupta.
