Srinagar, Jan 9: Security forces today said that they foiled a major plot by militants to carry out attacks in Kulgam district of South Kashmir by busting a militant module.

A police spokesman said that the three militant associates who were arrested yesterday on the National Highway were in close contact with the militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba and were planning to carry out major militant activities in Kulgam.

The spokesman said that during the investigation of case FIR Number 02/2025 under Section 13, 18 and 39 UAPA of Police Station Qaimoh, Police in Kulgam along with Army ‘s 1-RR, -Para and 18th battalion of CRPF, apprehended three militant associates of the LeT/TRF.
They have been identified as Ubaid Khursheed Mir son of Khursheed Ahmad Mir, Maqsood Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat and Umer Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, all residents of Thokerpora Qaimoh, Kulgam.
“The joint team also recovered arms and ammunition including 2 AK- series rifles, 8 AK series magazines, 217 AK rounds, 5 hand grenades and 2 magazine pouches,” the spokesman added.
