Sir,
The conclusion of COP29 in Baku has left the world at a critical juncture in addressing the escalating climate crisis. Despite the urgent need for action, the summit’s draft text has been deemed “a complete disaster” by activist Greta Thunberg.
The Global South’s demand for $1.3 trillion annually by 2035 was met with a paltry $250 billion proposal, exposing a glaring gap between rhetoric and action.
The failure of global leaders to rise to the challenge is alarming. Climate-related disasters in 2024 alone caused over $520 billion in damages and displaced 40 million people. The world cannot afford to wait any longer for meaningful action.
