JAMMU, Jan 12: On the occasion of the birthday of the founder of Khalsa Panth, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, an impressive Nagar Kirtan was taken out in Akhnoor town today.
The ‘Shobha Yatra’ was started with the beginning of Akhand Paath by the Gurudwara Managing Committee Akhnoor from Hanuman Chowk of the town. Hundreds of devotees participated in it. Shri Guru Granth Sahib was kept in a specially decorated vehicle.
The religious procession was taken out under the leadership of Ranbir Singh, a member of the local Gurudwara Managing Committee. The Nagar Kirtan was led by five Pyaras of the great Guru. A large number of devotees from different communities, including MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat, participated in the Nagar Kirtan. The youth and women were at the forefront of the procession.
Many Sikh devotees were seen cleaning the path barefooted, from where the decorated chariot of the `Guru’ was passing. In the Nagar Kirtan, the Ragi and Dhadi Jathas were singing the devotional songs in the praise of the Guru and connected the Sangat with the Gurvani.
The Nagar Kirtan was welcomed by various organizations, who had set up stalls of eatables and water along the yatra route. It passed through various markets. The police had tightened the security arrangements.
The Shobha Yatra concluded at Gurudwara Baba Sundar Singh. Parsad was also served to the devotees at this place.
Mohan Lal Bhagat said that every person should take a pledge to follow the path shown by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The great Guru sacrificed his entire family for the cause of humanity, truth and the country.
