Army busts 3 hideouts

SRINAGAR, May 23: Army today busted three militant hideouts in the Kashmir valley and recovered large quantity of arms and ammunition.
Srinagar based defence spokesman, Lt Col N N Joshi, today said that acting on a specific intelligence input regarding presence of a cache of arms and ammunition in Poshwani area of Pattan in Baramulla district, Army and police launched a joint search operation today.
“During the search of the area, security forces recovered two AK-47 rifles along with three magazines and 79 rounds of ammunition. The other recoveries included three rounds of RPG, one round of 51mm RPG, one UBGL, 13 rounds of UBGL, three IED circuit along with 100 grams of explosive and four hand grenades,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman said in another operation, security forces recovered two AK rifles, three magazines, 221 AK rounds, six pistols and 80 assorted rounds of ammunition from a militant hideout from Beaswali forest in Kupwara district on Thursday.
“During another joint operation, a hideout was busted in Okhapani forests in Handwara area of Kupwara district. Huge quantity of administrative stores which includes over 100 kgs of dry ration, cooking oil and condiments were recovered from the hideout,” the spokesman said.
