SRINAGAR, May 23: Northern Army Commander, Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chachra called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here today.
During the meeting, Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chachra briefed Chief Minister about the prevailing security situation and the measures being undertaken by Army towards sustained peace in Kashmir.
Army Commander was accompanied by Anshul Chachra, Regional President AWWA, Northern Command.
Earlier, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra arrived at Srinagar on his two day visit.
The Army Commander was received by Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, Chinar Corps Commander and was briefed on the current operational situation on Line of Control and internal security environment prevailing in the hinterland.
He lauded the efforts of Chinar Corps in providing environmental security during recently held elections.
He also complimented “Chinar Warriors’ for their professionalism, steadfastness and dedication and wished them operational success in future.
During his visit, Lieutenant General Sanjiv Chachra will visit forward areas of the Chinar Corps for deliberations on security situation and interaction with military and civil authorities.
He would also visit LoC formations and troops deployed in the forward areas and interact with the officers and troops.
He is also scheduled to meet Governor, NN Vohra.
