JAMMU, Jan 14: A collection of satire compositions in Punjabi, titled ‘Chhanivaar Ei’, written by a renowned satire writer Dr Monojit was released by Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (PLS), Jammu in a function organized at K L Saigal Auditorium, Writers’ Club, Cultural Academy, Jammu today.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, former Additional Secretary JKAACL presided over the programme whereas. Harvinder Kour, Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was the chief guest and SSP Railways- Jammu, Shailender Singh was the special guest on this occasion. Dr Baljeet Singh Raina, president, PLS-J, and Dr Monojit were present in the presidium.
Dr Baljeet extended a formal welcome to the guests, writers and the intellectuals present in the auditorium. A paper on the content and critical evaluation of the released book ‘Chhanivaar Ei’, was presented by Kritika, a research scholar of University of Jammu.
It may be mentioned that the released book is a collection of eighteen satire articles of various hues. The satire in the articles reflects Dr Monojit’s concern with the societal, political system and such other issues in the contemporary world. His bold satirical statements on malpractices in all the societal and political system, is evident in these pieces. So far Dr Monojit has contributed 15 poetry and fiction books to the literary world of Jammu & Kashmir.
Dr Arvinder Singh in his presidential address said that Dr Monojit has very seriously raised the satirical hues after entering the intricacies of the issues. He appreciated Dr Monojit and said that he has performed his role as a satirist with commitment and truthfulness in his expressions. He also suggested that JKAACL and other literary organizations should support in preparing the list of the legendary contributors in the fields of art, literature and culture and work on them without any discrimination.
Harvinder Kour appreciated the contribution of Dr Monojit in the field of Punjabi literature, which is a distinctive genre in itself. Shaliender Singh said that genre of satire in literary traditions has strong means in expression, and Dr. Monojit has come up with shining stars. He appreciated team of PLS for organizing such events.
Dr Monojit reflected on the journey of satire writing and other experiences in the literary world. Earlier Dr Pritam Singh from Deptt of Punjabi University of Jammu, Harjit Singh Upal, president Punjabi Sahitak Sabha, R S Pura, and Devinder Singh Vishwanagrik also expressed their views on the released book and the contribution of Dr. Monojit.
