Arunachal Guv, CM participate in kite flying event on Makar Sankranti day

ITANAGAR, Jan 14: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik along with Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday participated in a kite flying event at Itanagar on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.
Large numbers of people including children and senior officials joined the kite flying event organized by the Governor’s Secretariat.
The event, celebrated with much enthusiasm, marked the spirit of unity and cultural pride. The kite flying festival holds significant cultural, social, and symbolic importance across various regions.
It marks the transition of the sun into the northern hemisphere (Makar Sankranti), symbolizing new beginnings. Flying kites represent freedom, aspirations, and letting go of past struggles. It also denotes the spirit of joy, positivity, and unity.
Kite flying during Makar Sankranti is believed to expose people to the sun after winter, promoting good health. It promotes outdoor recreation, especially among youth, encouraging physical activity and reducing screen time.
