JAMMU, Jan 15: Dr S D Singh Jamwal, DGP Ladakh has been conferred with prestigious award by World Congress on Disaster Management (WCMD) on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
Dr Jamwal was conferred with prestigious WCMD- DRR award under category “Response during disasters and emergencies”. The award was given by Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industries in a well attended gathering in the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, for his outstanding contribution for capacity development and training of police forces and first responders in managing Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) disasters in the country.
Prominent dignitaries who graced the occasion included Justice M M Kumar, former chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir, Sanjay Kumar Secretary Education, Government of India and S Ananda Babu, president and convener DMICS- WXMD.
Holding a PhD in the field of bio weapons and biological disaster management, Dr Jamwal has been associated with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) since 2007 and has remained member of the steering committee which has drafted biological defence guidelines for India.
