UDHAMPUR, Jan 15: Cops here today foiled a bovine smuggling bid and arrested two animal smugglers involved in the crime thereby rescuing 13 bovines from a vehicle.
Cops from Police Post Tikri while on routine checking stopped a vehicle bearing Registration Number HP38H-6170 and found it loaded with 13 bovines.
The vehicle which was on its way to Kashmir and was driven by Waseem Khan, son of Mahandi Hasan, resident of Bhak road, Saharanpur, UP and his associate was Mohd. Shakeel, son of Ab. Gani, resident of Miran Sahib, Jammu and both these persons were arrested on the spot and all the 13 bovines were rescued and the vehicle was seized.
In this regard, a case under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Rehambal and investigation started.
