JAMMU, May 25: The residents of various villages of Nagrota today held protest demonstration over opening of slaughter house at Khanpur Nagrota.
Large number of residents including men and women led by State general secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Rakesh Wazir assembled on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and blocked the vehicular movement to lodge their protest over opening of slaughter house at Khanpur Nagrota having temple and school in the close vicinity.
The protestors were demanding that the slaughter house should be made at some isolated or lonely place which is easily available somewhere else and not at this site which is thickly populated and is having temple and school just nearby.
They said that over one crore pilgrims visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine every year through this route, adding that if we can not show them something good then we should not atleast show them this slaughter house as showpiece.

On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored.
