Rajouri deserves Municipal Council status: Vibodh

RAJOURI, May 26: Highlighting the lack of basic civic amenities and other facilities in the Rajouri city and outskirts, which are proving to be hurdle in the overall development of Rajouri city, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State Vice President, Vibodh Gupta today criticized the Coalition Government for its failure to judiciously utilize the funds allotted by Central Government for the betterment of the State.
Addressing a meeting of the members from Muslim community, Vibodh lambasted the ex-MoS and local MLA Shabir Ahmed Khan for his partial attitude towards the Rajouri city.  “It is due to the ‘pick and choose’ policy adopted by the Shabir Khan that the Constituency as a whole and the Rajouri city in general has a pathetic and deteriorating condition.
Vibodh informed that keeping in mind the growing population of the town, which is around 50,000 and increase in number of Municipal wards from 13 to 17, the existing Municipal Committee should be converted into Municipal Council as the meager amount of funds received by the Committee are not sufficient to cater the needs of the residents.
He further said that the plan funding for the district in general and for Rajouri city in particular should be increased. “The small amount of 12-15 lakhs for Rajouri city is not sufficient to provide basic facilities to the people residing in the city and outskirts”, Vibodh added.
Senior BJP leader Kuldeep Raj Gupta also addressed the gathering and highlighted the grievances being faced by the people and he warned the State Government through the medium of press that the Government has to shun the partial and hoodwinking policies towards the people, otherwise, they have to face the burnt in the days to come.
Ex-chairman Municipal Committee Rajinder Gupta also highlighted the achievement registered by the Committee during his tenure and promised the localities that their problems will be solved on priority which is the prime agenda of the party.
