Maruti Suzuki organizes Gramin Mahotsav for village customers

TARAN TARAN, May 27: Maruti Suzuki India Limited, country’s leading car maker today organized a Gramin Mahotsav for its customers in Thathi village in Taran Taran district of Punjab.
The event is part of its Rural 2.0 drive, where the company is targeting to reach out to customers in over 2 lakh villages by end of this year.
During the event, Mayank Pareek, COO Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India handed over car keys to 10 customers who belonged to the farming, teaching and trading community.
“With the support of customers, Maruti Suzuki holds around 55 per cent of the market share in Punjab. The top five selling cars in Punjab State are from Maruti Suzuki. We will continue our focus in the State and plan to reach out to over 12000 villages by end of this fiscal. Last year our efforts in the rural market helped us double our reach, we sold Maruti Suzuki cars in over 94000 villages across the country and this year, again we aim to double our reach and sell Maruti Suzuki cars in 2 lakh villages,” he said.
Over 500 customers from nearby 30 villages participated in today’s Gramin Mahotsav. SN Burman, vice president, Maruti Suzuki, was also present in the event. As part of the Rural 2.0 drive, the company plans to organize more such events, introduce exchange schemes and focus micro marketing.
Maruti Suzuki had started focusing on the rural market over five years ago and has seen the rural contribution grow over the years. The overall contribution from the rural market last year was over 32 percent of the total domestic sales of 10.53 lakh.
