BJP protests against power failure

JAMMU, May 27: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), State Training Cell today staged a protest demonstration against the failure of the Power Development Department (PDD) to replace the damaged transformer of the area despite the lapse of more than 18 months.
Hundreds of BJP activists accompanied by locals of the area led by Rajeev Charak , convener BJP, State Training Cell assembled outside Sub Transmission Receiving Station PDD, Near Mahakali Mandhir Bahu Fort, Jammu and raised slogans against the PDD for not replacing the transformer in their area thereby forcing them to face severe power crisis.
They alleged that their area is facing long power cuts as the power in the area is supplied through Tawi Lift transformer which is already overburdened.
Speaking on the occasion, Charak said “Our transformer got damaged 18 months back, but so far it has not been replaced despite our repeated requests and reminders to the PDD”, they alleged while adding, “The Tawi Lift transformer, through which the power is supplied to the area as an alternate arrangement, is not sufficient to cater to the needs of our area”.
He further said that the exams of the students are approaching near, but they can not study as power goes off every now and then. He said that the summer is also on peak and it is becoming difficult for the people to cope with.
