SRINAGAR, May 28: Police today claimed to have arrested five profiteers in Batamaloo and Saheed Gunj localities of Srinagar.
A police spokesman said police were receiving constant complaints regarding some shopkeepers indulging in profiteering.
“We launched a drive and arrested five shopkeepers under Section 3/7 Essential Commodities Act which includes two butchers, two vegetable sellers and one baker for selling merchandise at exorbitant prices to the commoners,” the spokesman said.
