SRINAGAR, May 31: Usha Vohra, First Lady, inaugurated an Art Exhibition at the Delhi Public School (DPS), Srinagar. She went round the entire Gallery, saw all the paintings, interacted with the participating artists and enquired about the themes which were sought to be projected by them. The First Lady appreciated the ingenuity of the artists in projecting their thoughts through abstract, realistic, impressionistic, and spiritual forms.
On the occasion, Mrs. Vohra, also presented certificates and gifts to the participants.
This Exhibition is a part of an ongoing National Level Art Camp (May 25-June 2) which has been organized by the D.P. Dhar Memorial Trust at DPS, Srinagar. The Camp, in which 28 artists from different parts of India are participating, has been organized with the essential objective of providing exposure to the budding artists of the school and from all over the Valley.
Mrs. Vohra also went round the stalls which displayed wicker work, carpentry, papermachie and paintings made by the students of the School. Appreciating the talents of the students, she bought a wicker basket put on sale by the students.
She witnessed a play, which was presented by the students, based on the problems being faced by the younger generation from incidents of ragging and cyber bashing. She was briefed by the students about the Community Services being undertaken by “Vyath-che-pakaan”, the Heritage Club of the School.
Vijay Dhar, Chairman, DPS, Srinagar; Kusam Warkoo, Principal, DPS, Srinagar; Kiran Vijay Dhar; and Shyama Sondhi, organizer of the National Art Camp, were among those present on the occasion.
