JTC, Soan Front’s concern over 12 hour power cut

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 31: A meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front was held today in which grave concern was expressed over the apathy of the Power Development Department (PDD) towards the Jagti camp inmates by enforcing over 12 hour power cut daily.
The meeting, which was chaired by Shadi Lal Pandita president of the JTC said that curtailment of power over 12 hours a day in this hot Summer tantamount to human rights violation.
He said despite the repeated please to the concerned authorities and higher ups in the Government they failed to improve the power supply.
Mr Pandita made it clear that Kashmiri Pandits have been hounded out from the Valley and were dependent on cash doles from the Government hence unable to bear the power tariff. Moreover the Government was duty bound to provide all facilities to the migrants as it was the total failure of the State to protect them in Valley.
He said even after the clear cut directions from the court of law the PDD has failed to supply power at par with other parts of Jammu region.
Pandita in an appeal urged the Government to supply power to the camp on the same pattern as it is supplied in other parts of the State failing which the Jagti inmates will come to streets.
