Jashn-e-J&K Festival enthrals audience on second day

JAMMU, Feb 14: The second day of the Jashn-e-Jammu & Kashmir festival, organized by the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with the J&K Artists Association, continued to celebrate the region’s rich cultural heritage at the Abhinav Theatre.
Following the festival’s inauguration the previous day, the event captivated audiences with a vibrant display of traditional music, dance, and folk theatre.
The festival was attended by Yudhvir Sethi, MLA Jammu East, who praised the efforts of JKAACL and the J&K Artists Association for organizing the event, which highlights the region’s artistic traditions.
He also emphasized the importance of supporting local artists and performers, providing them with recognition and fostering cultural exchange and unity.
Sohail Kazmi, Member of the Waqf Board, J&K, also spoke at the event, commending the diversity of the performances.
He stressed the importance of preserving Jammu and Kashmir’s traditional art forms as a key part of its history and identity.
Day two of the festival featured a variety of performances, including Geetru by Neeta Adarsh & Group from Ramnagar, and a mesmerizing Chakri performance by Saqib Ahad & Party from Srinagar.
The festival also showcased traditional Kashmiri storytelling with Baba Reshi Folk Theatre and Bhand Pather artists from Heemal Cultural Society.
The Rouf Dance by Lotus Cultural Group and the Dambali Dance by Shkoori Sha Dambali Dance Centre were other highlights, showcasing Kashmir’s rich cultural traditions.
The evening continued with performances of Dogri folk dances by Sanjeet Mehra & Group, a unique Bhand Pather by Alamdar Bhagat Theatre from Mohri Pora, and a powerful Challant performance by Gulam Raool Bhagatyar.
The audience was also treated to Dogri dances by Radhika Manhas & Group, and a soulful Gojri Geet performance by renowned artists Razia Ashraf and Parveena Choudhary.
With two days of captivating performances, the Jashn-e-Jammu & Kashmir festival has successfully highlighted the region’s artistic vibrancy.
The festival will conclude tomorrow with a grand finale, promising another evening of exceptional cultural presentations.
