JAMMU, June 1: Under its weekly Sunday Theatre Series, Natrang presented a new Hindi play ‘Samman Ke Liye’ (For the Pride), written by Satyendra Shrivastava and directed by Neeraj Kant here at its Studio Theatre.
Set at the backdrop of a war scene, amidst firing, three women daring their lives appear on stage in search of the dead bodies of their husbands. They are shocked to know about the fate of the dead bodies as they are being disposed off without observing the last rites as per their respective religious beliefs. They confront with the authorities and demand to respect their religious sentiments, but the authorities have their own logics to explain. Interestingly among the three ladies one is a Hindu, one Muslim and one a Christian. An army officer who himself is badly injured, tries to pacify the agitated distressed ladies. With an attempt to convince them, he says that in a war situation the priority is to attend the injured and not the rightful disposal of the dead bodies.
