Youth murdered, people protest

JAMMU, July 8: A youth was found brutally murdered near Dak Bungalow, Miran Sahib this morning triggering spontaneous protests from her family members and villagers of Treva, his native village in RS Pura tehsil.
The youth, Sunil Kumar alias Sonu, 27, son of Gulzar Singh R/o Treva, Arnia, was presently putting up in the house of his in-laws at Santokh Vihar, Kunjwani. He was a three-wheeler operator.
Police said the youth had been missing since June 2. The missing report had been lodged with Gangyal police station.
This morning, local people spotted a body sealed in a bag lying near Dak Bungalow at Miran Sahib and raised an alarm. Police parties led by SDPO RS Pura Diwakar Singh rushed to the spot.
The body was identified by the family members as that of Sonu. The youth’s arms and legs had been tied with a rope and his head and other parts of bodies had marks of injuries.
Police sent the body to RS Pura hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the people held demonstrations at Treva and RS Pura in protest against brutal killing of the youth and demanded immediate identification and arrest of the culprits. They criticized police for not tracing the youth in time.
Following protests, police got Medical Board constituted in RS Pura hospital for post-mortem after which the body was sent to his native village and cremated in the evening.
Police have registered a murder case at Miran Sahib police station for further investigations.
