JAMMU, Feb 18: To discuss their grievances, a delegation of General Bus Stand Shopkeepers’ Association (GBSSA) met with Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to CM, here today.
The members of association apprised Advisor to CM, about various issues related to improper functioning of General Bus Stand, non-availability of power supply, no ATM, no clock room facility and in active ticket counters in the new complex.
They said, “In order to increase the footfall of passengers in new Bus Stand Complex, there should be better amenities. To generate more revenue there is need for betterment of shopkeepers, the approach design of Bus stand should be changed, so that every part of complex become lively and every penny of State spent for building great asset of the State.”
“Also, the shop rents should be remitted, till the entire platforms become active. Some shops were on lease at Rs 12.5 per sq. ft and some on rent deed at Rs 25 per sq.ft. but before allotment of shops before inauguration of renovated complex, the rent was Rs 3 per sq.ft. Hence, it was requested to impose rent at the same rate (Rs 3 per sq.ft.) after revival of platforms and things become normal. In 2008, all shopkeepers applied for lease of shops but only few shopkeepers were allotted lease and many shopkeepers were left behind due to transfer of then VC, JDA. It was injustice for rest of shopkeepers, who failed to get lease due to administrative reasons,” they said.
All these issues were discussed in detail.
Advisor to CM assured the delegation that their grievances would be resolved at the earliest.
Among others who were present on the occasion included Vishal Mahajan, president of GBSSA, Ashwani Sharma, Sanjay Dutta, Sumit, Gulshan, Sumeer, Hanif Khan, Sanjay, Vishal, Nitin and Sohail Khan.
