JAMMU, June 2: To offer free education to poor and children affected by terrorist violence and other down trodden sections of society with focus on SC/ST and BPL, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) and Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) today opened its branch ‘Art of Giving’ at Nanak Nagar.
GA Khawaja, ex-Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla along with Achyuta Samanta, Founder Director of KISS and KIIT inaugurated the office at Nanak Nagar.
Samanta while speaking said that KISS and KIIT opened ‘Art of Giving” office with a sole aim to offer the benefits of education to deserving and needy in J&K.
Art of Giving is planning to open up educational institute in the State to offer free education to poor and children affected by militancy vis-à-vis down trodden sections of society with focus on SC/ST and BPL.
Samanta said basic aim of his organisation is to educate and provide educational opportunities to the children from poor families and those who have no avenue to get education.
“KISS branch is operational in Jammu to help the children to get education and in coming years more such institutions will be operated. Half education is worse than no education. My children need to make a living, which is why we help them get trained in various fields”, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, member executive committee of KISS branch, J&K, GA Khawaja said that “Art of Giving” is a humanitarian and selfless philanthropist concept of simple living and high thinking.
“This idea was brought up by Achyuta Samanta founder of KIIT and KISS and we hope to establish a big residential school in the State for the benefit of poor children”, Khawaja added.
Among others present were UC Dingra, ex-Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Soba Ram, Former Director, Hospitality and Protocol.
