Cabinet to order promotion of 18 IAS officers today

JAMMU, June 2: State Cabinet, which is meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, tomorrow evening at Civil Secretariat Srinagar, will accord sanction to the promotion of 18 IAS officers besides giving sanction to the promotion of two officers to the common pool of posts for Head of Departments prospectively. The Cabinet is also likely to order some transfers and promotions in civil administration in the light of the fact that four posts of Administrative Secretaries are presently lying vacant.
Authoritative sources told EXCELSIOR that Secretary General Administration Department with the approval of Chief Secretary has moved a proposal regarding promotion of 18 IAS officers to the Selection Grade with effect from January 1, 2014. The proposal will be approved by the Cabinet in its meeting tomorrow.
These 18 IAS officers are Sanjeev Verma, Mandeep K Bhandari, Mohd Afzal Bhat, Sudershan Sharma,  Mehraj Ahmad Kakroo, Satish Nehru, Parvez Ahmad Malik, Anal Kumar Gupta, Rajesh Kumar Bhagat, Abdul Majid Mir, Nirmal Sharma, Shafat Noor, Abdul Latief Deva, R  K Koul, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Mohd Sharief Sood, Zaffar Ahmad Bhat and Abdul Majid Ganaie.
The Cabinet will also accord sanction to the promotion of two officers namely Ishtiaq Ahmad Hamal, Development Commissioner Works and Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, Director Indian Systems of Medicine prospectively.
Sources said that Cabinet is also likely to order transfers and postings in civil administration as four posts of Administrative Secretaries are lying vacant.
These posts are Administrative Secretary Labour and Employment Department, Administrative Secretary Rural Development Department, Secretary ARI and Trainings and Secretary School Education Department.
The posts of Administrative Secretaries Labour And Employment, Rural Development  and ARI and Trainings fell vacant following retirement of B A Runyal, Farooq Ahmed Peer and G H Tantray while as post of School Education Department Secretary is vacant since the Government cleared the name of Hirdesh Kumar Singh for training.
Moreover,  the post of Secretary Public Service Commission is also lying vacant since the Government cleared the name of Ashok Kumar for deputation.
The Cabinet will also accord sanction to the promotion of  R K Bhat, Senior Private Secretary as Principal Private Secretary.
According to the sources,  the Cabinet will also take decision of some other routine administrative agenda.
