VC Advisory Board for OBC calls on CM

SRINAGAR, June 3: Vice Chairman, Advisory Board for Development of Other Backward Classes (OBC), Kuldeep Raj Verma this morning called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, here and apprised him of the functioning of OBC Advisory Board.
The Vice Chairman also discussed various issues relating to the development of Other Backward Classes and identified areas which require additional focusing in the policy programmes to ensure faster development of weaker sections.
The issues which came up in the discussion included enhancement of reservation for OBCs, enhancement of income slab, funds for sub plan for the development of OBC, construction of hostels one each at Jammu and Srinagar for OBC students etc.
The Chief Minister while assuring justice to all sections of the society, said that inclusive and equitable development has been fixed as the benchmark in the implementation of holistic development process launched in the State. He said special focus is on the development of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Gujjars, Bakerwals, Pahari Speaking People and Other Backward Classes.
