SAMBA, June 3: The inhabitants of Purmandal staged a demonstration infront of DC office here in protest against the dumping of industrial waste at Balole Nullah in Purmandal area which is causing health hazards in the area.
The protest was led by NPP provincial general secretary, Rajesh Padgotra. They demanded that dumping of industrial waste from Bari Brahmana area be not dumped at in the nullah in view of recent accidents. As the industrial waste and wreckage which is hot after being dumped in the area has resulted in injuries to people as well as cattle walking over there. Many people have been injured after walking in the area, they added.
They said 15 days back Girdhari Lal and his son, Sachin Thappa of village lower Birpur got injured when they were returning to their village after purchasing a cow. They said that the cow also died on the spot.
They warned to intensify agitation in case the dumping was not stopped and administration failed to take appropriate measures in this regard. The protestors also submitted a memorandum to DC Samba in this regard.
