Udhampur, June 3: NPP chairman Harshdev Singh (MLA) has strongly condemned the State Bank of India (SBI) for the highly biased and discriminatory advertisement notification issued by it for recruitment to the posts of clerical assistants in the said Bank.
He said that the SBI notification which advertizes around 107 posts for the state of J&K has surprisingly restricted the selection process to the candidates belonging to Kashmir valley and Ladakh. He said that the Advertisement Notification categorically excludes the candidates of Jammu region from applying for the said posts by making an express provision in the notification that the special recruitment drive is for clerical Assistants in Kashmir valley and Ladakh.
The notification categorically stipulates that recruitment shall be restricted to the districts of Anantnag, Budgam, Baramulla, Kupwara, Kulgam, Palwama, Srinagar, Shopian, Leh and Kargil. He said that it is further provided in the notification that candidates should have the knowledge of Kashmiri / Urdu language which would be tested during the course of interview.
Strongly condemning such a biased recruitment notification, the MLA described it as the first doze of discrimination against Jammu region under the NDA Govt. He regretted that the BJP led Govt. which had sweeped the polls in Jammu region in just concluded Parliamentary polls had shown complete disregard and contempt for the unemployed youth of the region. He said that never before had any recruitment notification been issued on regional lines in the past.
Stating that the recruitment notification was not only discriminatory but racial also being based on language and region, he sought its immediate revocation. He described it as an insult also to the Dogras and Dogri language which had been incorporated in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution.
