KHC opposes scattered rehabilitation of migrants

JAMMU, June 3: Kashmir Hindu Conference (KHC) executive body in its meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of M L Thusoo, advocate discussed the return and rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley of Kashmir.
The meeting, stressed construction of a new city for the Pandits in Kashmir. It said the return of the internally displaced community is the return of a new civilization, culture, faith and Sanskriti. The Pandits are nationalists and patriots to the core.
It said they must not be left at the mercy of those who were responsible for the mass exodus of the community who will remain in ambush to disturb communal harmony and peace in Valley. The community has sacrificed 500 members and bore the brunt of exile in last 25 years, it added.
The meeting said the State Government had let loose the reins of its administration and not a single militant was punished for the same.
The meeting made it clear that scattered return is not acceptable to the community.
It said the constitutional safeguards for the lasting stay, reservation in the State Legislature and Parliament, minority status and other concessions for the community are basic requirements for the new rehabilitation policy.
The meeting among others was addressed by P L Koul Budgami convener KHC, K L Ganjoo its senior vice president, A K Sadhoo, S N Raina, M L Daftri, M L Koul, A K Bhat, A K Koul and G L Koul.
