JAMMU, June 3: J&K Forestry Graduates Association demanded advertisement of all the posts lying vacant in the department immediately so that the young forestry graduates and post-graduates might get jobs.
Addressing a joint press conference, the members of the association said that the vacant forestry posts in various forestry departments must be referred immediately to J&K Public Service Commission and Service Selection Board (SSB).
The members of the association appealed to the Chief Minister and SSB to amend the present selection criteria for the post of forester and give more weightage to the forestry graduates such as agriculture graduates, diploma engineers, horticulture graduates and other technical qualification. The present model does not justify with the students, who have studied forestry and are treated at par with other stream students in the selection process for the forestry related jobs.
Forestry graduates have been unemployed since passing their examination and State Government has done nothing, they added.
They urged the Government to take some suitable measures for proving jobs to the forestry graduates.
The press conference was jointly addressed by Sachin Phagetra, Amit Seth, Dr Pardeep Singh Charak, Sanjay Jasrotia, Pawan Abrol, Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Amit Modi, Ankush Gupta, Vikrant Jamwal, Vikram Singh, etc.
